Old lanes

Long abandoned lanes high in the Shropshire Hills. The remains of a hard existence they lie on the edge of The Paddock, a village that grew up with the local mining industry. The miners and their families built small holdings out of necessity to supplement their meagre incomes. When the local mining industry collapsed a hardy few hung on until the area was finally abandoned in the early 20th century. Only the odd stone wall and rubble piles now mark the places where these families once lived and loved.
