Grovely Wood

This is my local wood, which unsurprisingly has a bit of a dark history. It's locally known for the Handsel sister trees. The supposed burial spot of four Danish sisters that were murdered in the wood for apparently being witches and seemingly bringing smallpox with them. 

Oddly, when I used to live in Mistley, Essex, the local restaurant (the Mistley Thorn) down the road used to belong to Matthew Hopkins, the most infamous Witchfinder General. In England, you're never far from a grisly bit of history...
