Memorial

This is the Memorial to the victims of Communism, here in Prague. As you can see, it consists of a number of bronze figures (7 in all) descending a flight of stairs. As they recede up the staircase away from you the statues gradually become more "decayed"  - losing limbs and their bodies breaking open. This is to symbolise how political prisoners were affected by Communism. A bronze strip runs through the centre of the piece showing estimated numbers of those impacted by communism:

205,486 arrested
170,938 forced into exile
4,500 died in prison
327 shot trying to escape
248 executed

The numbers speak for themselves.  

Rather disconcerting to see however that the sculptors appear to have taken Jeremy Corbin as their model  ... how worrying is that?

In my extras:

1.    A shot from the Museum of Communism here in Prague;
2.    A beautifully colourful Jewish Synagogue that we stumbled over as we were hurrying off to somewhere else, which I just couldn't resist trying to capture;
3.    As we were walking through the narrow streets of the old town we came across this long faced chap in spectacles.  Can't think why but both Cathy and I immediately thought of Incredibish ...
4.    Finally, the fabulously Art Nouveau Obecni Dum concert hall;
