From Ilderton
Yet another late start after an even later night!
After a leisurely brunch, MrM put the last two pieces of board on to the joists in the living room - a fiddly job as they had to be cut to uneven shapes.
Then we set off for Ilderton, to see the snowdrops in the churchyard (extra) - quite a spectacle. It was such a lovely afternoon that we decided to investigate two of the tracks leading from the village. First, the one past the churchyard, quite a steep uphill path with good 360deg. views from the top. The blip is looking down to the southeast - I love the tree, standing at a jaunty angle to brace itself against the westerly winds. Unfortunately, the footpath extends beyond the edge of our map and isn't signposted, so went returned back through the village and walked along the track in the opposite direction as far as a ford, where a very vocal goose (extra) greeted us. No choice then but to head back to the car, as it was well past 5.00pm and the light was fading. Such a lovely area that we have determined go back to Ilderton for a longer circular walk at some point.
Almost back to the car and my mobile rang - it was L, inviting us to join her and M in the pub in Wooler, as they were passing by. It would have been rude to refuse...
