Seed heads of native New Zealand clematis
These are the seedheads of native New Zealand Clematis paniculata. This plant is now growing wild in our garden, although we did plant it. The lower section of our garden is planted in local natives, and is gradually growing into a semi-respectable forest. There is now a canopy across much of it, and in places, a litter layer under trees and shrubs. It is providing a home to native birds and insects.
