I saw this guy in a grocery aisle today, and when I saw his hat, I had to stop him to ask about his WWII time. He was very affable and affectionate. He told me a little about his story: “I signed up in peace time with the Marines in 1941. That didn’t last long.” He said he served in Guadalcanal, Guam, and Iwo Jima. He reminded me of my dad. He had to be well into his 90s. Hero.
