Deserted Town

This shot shows the town of Pripyat, in Chernobyl, Ukraine. Circa 50,000 people lived here, many working at Chernobyl nuclear power plant (visible in the top right) or nearby Russian (at the time) military defence site. it was evacuated on the afternoon of 27 April 1986.
A recent visit to Chernobyl Ukraine, whist some 30 years after the nuclear meltdown of reactor 4, this place has both and eerie and magical side. Eerie inasmuch as the town of over 5000 inhabitants left with in 2 days never to return, but magical because of nature finding a way. The amount of wild animals, trees and flowers were unbelievable.
