Over the years millions of tons of “stuff” has been moved around on this site, which straddles across the Bolton/Salford administrative boundary.

The Lomax site was one of the largest open cast coal extraction sites in Europe. One huge tip.

Now it is the Logistics North site. Lots of huge shiny distribution and manufacturing boxes - Amazon, Aldi, Lidl and Whisl amogst others.

And a very big country park. Still lots of space for the Great Crested Newts and other wildlife

It’s hugeness is exemplified by the fact it is visible from the Thelwall viaduct on the M6, miles away. Those shiny big boxes sitting on an elevated ridge often catch the sun
