Wairere Falls

These are the 30m Wairere falls near to the buried village of Te Wairoa.

This village was buried in mud 1886 when Mount Tarawera erupted. We visited the partially excavated remains of the village, where they have created a fascinating museum. 
Afterwards we walked down to the falls.

Today's extra is the quayside on Lake Rotorua where there were hundreds of ducks and some black swans.
