OSo calm

A visit to the Dovecot gallery today with my parents and youngest sister.

The building was originally one of Edinburgh's wonderful 19th century public baths - separate entrances and facilities for men and women, and a blessing at a time when tenement flats had no internal bathrooms or easily got hot water.

Threatened with demolition after the campaign to save the baths failed, the building was saved when Dovecot Tapesttry Workshop succeeded in getting the funding together and transformed it.

We went today because mum wanted to see the small exhibition of photos of department stores. Goldbergs menagery anyone? Parkers? J&R Allan?
