Tool for Today

I get this out every so often, when there is cutting to be done – cutting with more speed than the smaller electric kit will manage.  I bought my first chainsaw about 12 years ago from my brother, but only after I had undertaken three days' training at Shuttleworth – he wouldn't let me have the chainsaw until he was satisfied that I wouldn't plant a ditch down my forehead with one.

Today we culled a cankerous pear tree and chopped up many branches from pruned acers and a silver birch.  It's surprisingly hard work, but it has to be done.

It will all make for good kindling or firewood next year.
