Work and play

Ah yes, even in Alohaland I have to work sometimes. But what a difference, working on the lanai in fresh air and looking out over the garden. It's almost refreshing. Still, I have been doing more work than I would like to do. I had hoped to get everything done in two hours per day, but it's more like three at the moment. Hopefully, that will calm down once I get over a few hurdles of deadlines and extra projects.

It's a good time to have extra work to do, though, because the cool (read, cold) weather persists. Yesterday was Valentines Day, and more importantly for us, our anniversary ... 11 years! We had planned on going out for lunch but it was pouring with rain for most of the day and not very inviting. We actually went with Angelo to do some shopping at Costco and Hawaii Kai in the morning. In the afternoon we went over to Angie's and, apart from finding ourselves "stuck" there due to a torrential downpour, we ate one of her cookies. By the time we got home we were feeling good and relaxed. Maestro Tiziano says I've never played the ukulele or sang better. There you go, being relaxed is a good thing! Oh and then I made a delicious fish curry for dinner. Angelo came down, bringing equally delicious stuffed mushrooms with him, and we spent a really pleasant evening together.

Today the weather was still cool (read, chilly). I am so missing my morning walks on the beach, but it's no fun when mild sunshine turns to rain from one minute to the next. Still, it was warm enough to swim at the Y this morning. I feel like I'm getting a bit stronger. Those first few lengths don't just about do me in, as they did at the beginning. Work, lunch, a visit to Angie's, and now I think I'll read my book for a while. We had planned to go and listen to some music this evening, but the band (Saloon Pilots, a bluegrass band) are playing outdoors and that does not seem very inviting right now.
