Not matching

Lots of little things remind us of the people we have loved but who are no longer with us. These horrendously badly matched tartan trousers made me smile and remember my gran, who would have hated them, and been vociferous in her disgust over poorly made clothes! Apparently my grandpa always told his tailor to make sure that suits were well matched along the seams, as his wife was very particular. After he sent a new suit back, there were no more mistakes! The other gran sewing story was that she used ton have to go to business events with grandpa, and for a long time she made her own amazing dresses, which everyone complimented, and asked where she got them. In that company, it wasn't normal, or particularly acceptable, to make your own clothes, so she never admitted to it. One day grandpa messed up and let the cat out of the bag, and she was so embarrassed that he had to buy her posh frocks for events from then on. To be fair he was probably proud of her, and didn't understand why she was so embarrassed!
