Diary of an Edinburgher

Bathroom wall completed

JR had a double session of fitness. I didn’t bother with bike.

Another full day's work for the builders - non stop from 8am, with only a few smoko stops. Not sure if they eat. They're great. Really feel like we’re getting somewhere at last. The brick walls are completed. The kitchen walls have been stripped. That whole big pile of bricks in yeasterday's extra has been used up! And now peace and quiet (and lie ins) till Monday morning, when the long awaited beams go in and the walls come down.

JR is being rather affected by the dust. And it's only going to get worse when the walls come down. So she went away for the whole day, ostensibly 'looking at a fridge'. She also managed a scone and coffee, and a toilet stop. Every time the chaps pop out for a fag, I nip in to the toilet, only to find a big bucket of cement on it. I didn’t know it could hold for so long...

Jordan came on his new (green) bike, which is rather smart, complete with a dinky wee (green) metal 'basket' on the front, which he assured me was 'just the right size for a dozen cans of beer'. I think it was a selling point. He was able to fit in my reciprocating saw - he's borrowing it to saw up a pallet. I intend to resist pallets going forward...

Our neighbour popped over to check out the building works and tell us about her bathroom renovations. We've started a trend.

Here's Archie in the kitchen. He doesn’t like the path to the back door. He works up to it, then makes a dash through. Same on the way back in.

That Archie trim is getting nearer...
