River Lune and its tributaries
Well what a beautiful day its been, very springlike.
We drove to Barton Grange garden centre this morning, a little later than planned, as I didnt sleep very well, just couldnt get to sleep! Think my mind was still too active, post winning the quiz, for the second week in a row (!!!).....I know it was after 2 before I dropped off.
We had a late brunch and a coffee, then a nice browse, bought a new planter for the centre island in the kitchen, and three bright primroses for a trough by the front door, as a nice welcome for visitors ;-) We had a quick look around the new extension too, which houses a cinema, a bowling alley, a curling rink, a small cafe and a traditional fish n chip shop, with restaurant seating......all very nice.
Then we jumped back in the car and drove to Glasson Dock for a nice walk around the dock and along the front. Our neighbour had said if we did wind up here, to call in at the Smokehouse for some kippers for him, which we did, very expensive they were......we somehow managed to spend £15 whilst we were in there ;-) Some fresh lemon and parsley mackrel and morecambe bay potted shrimps for a light dinner later this evening, and some really lovely looking handmade biscuits for a get together later next week.
We walked from the Smokehouse along the walkway above the river.....and discovered another little gem of a place. A lovely little cafe right at the end of the walkway called Cafe d'Lune. Of course we had to have a pitstop.... a coffee and a shared slice of lemon drizzle cake, which was divine!! We sat outside and actually took our jackets off, it was really pleasant!! I took lots of photos as we wandered around, but thought this one showed the area off perfectly. There is an extra of the Dock area too.
By the time we got back to the car the sun was starting to set on what has been a lovely day. We managed to clock up just shy of 10k steps so that was a bonus :-)
More of the same please for the next few days.
