That's a big bridge for a small city*

In Dundee today, as usual the sun was shining in Scotland (the myth of rain is often used to keep the English out). I got several good candidates for Blips including a great shot of the bridge from the 9th floor of the Tower building at the University, but this was my fave of the day, the train was an old one, with windows that could be opened in the vestibule ends. This was taken as we crossed the Tay Rail Bridge into Fife.

This bridge was opened in 1887, following the 1879 Tay Bridge disaster (in which 75 people were killed, including the son-in-law of the designer). I believe that the stumps on the left are part of the original bridge.

William McGonagal wrote a poem about the disaster that finished with the lines
And the cry rang out all round the town,
Good heavens! The Tay Bridge has blown down.
