Tide Water

As a possible cure for insomnia I've been reading about tides. Ocean tides and moon-pull. Lunitidal intervals. Neap tide - the smallest difference between low and high tide (sun and moon at right angles, keeping the process on a tight leash). 
Earth tide: the moon prodding the Earth's crust with a gravitational finger, making it buckle in places. Buckles that can be measured if not easily seen. 
They say galaxies have tidal rhythms too. But that's a bit far out for now.
