Jhala Nath Khanal

Jhala Nath Khanal is the ex-President of Nepal and Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist). Aka A Big Wig. He was present at a meeting that was part of the 16 day campaign to end violence against women. I have no idea what he said, or any of the other speakers, as it was all in Nepali. One woman who spoke was very emotional and communicated despite the language barrier. The rest was less moving. However it is interesting to see politics and campaign work in action.

Lunch was a delicious paratha and potato curry in a food place next door to the Teaching Hospital. We thought if medical students ate there (which they were in numbers), then it must be vaguely hygienic. Only time will tell!
