Elephant jungle sanctuary
We were up at 6 this morning to get picked up for our morning at the elephant jungle sanctuary so worth it though!
When we got there we learnt how to prep their food and then carried it up to where the elephants were to feed them, I was feeding one of the older elephants so she couldn’t have any sugar cane as she hasn’t many teeth left. After feeding we got in a mud bath with them and wiped mud all over the elephants they love this apparently, then it was too another pool where we washed the mud off them and scrubbed them with a brush the elephant I was brushing went to sleep. Then they have to go in the shower to get all the mud off them. We then went back to the camp and it was lunch time after a shower of course to get all the mud off us. Sat down to eat my lunch and realised it was only 1030 but getting up so early it felt like lunchtime! They rescue elephants all around Thailand and are going to be opening another sanctuary in Koh Samui this year, they have to buy the elephants off the owners who are miss treating them and they cost 80,000 Thai bhat which is more than most houses cost here!
The rest of the day was spent having a siesta and sitting in the sunshine.
Tonight we had a few drinks in our hotel and then headed to an Italian that Pauls friend who was here last week recommended and it was lovely and it’s the nicest wine I’ve had all holiday! Might have to squeeze in another trip to this restaurant before we go home!
