Engine testing site

These channels would have carried away exhaust gases from engine tests. During tests the entire area would have been sprayed with water from the large reservoir one wall of which is visible on the right: the pipework for this was underground and may still be in place. The spray nozzles and the pumps which drove the irrigation system have been removed, as has the structure on which the engines were mounted for tests.
