Fire Detector
I'm not sure that's what this is, but I think it's a pretty good guess. There has been a lot of thought and effort given to making our county as 'fireproof' as possible in these days of climate change and an electric company which has declared bankruptcy in the face of mounting liabilities for better maintenance of equipment and restoration of property. The pole on the right has a power line at the top and the one on the left appears to be brand new and has what looks like a camera on top.
MY thoughts have been with some New Zealand Blippers who have been writing about wildfires burning near Nelson. It all sounds so familiar. I hope it is true that they are getting a handle on it at this writing.
It was a gorgeous day today, although very cold. I had on four layers, including a hat and gloves, as we headed once again for Spring Lake. Unlike yesterday when we were caught twice in heavy downpours,* we made it all the way around the lake today. We ran into a couple, Patty and Tom, who rescued me several years ago when I tripped over a dog and face planted into the paved pathway. We were saddened to learn that they have had to say goodbye to their big sweet lab, Huxley who developed a fast growing tumor.
We went to our new favorite coffee place, the Trail House which is near to Spring Lake and generally quieter and less crowded than Acre. This morning it was heaving with folk, including one man who ordered food and drink for his two kids and his wife before discovering that he didn't have his wallet. OilMan offered to pay, but he was told he could run a tab until he sorted the wallet problem. Fortunately he found it on the floor of his car where it had fallen out of his pocket and didn't have to go home to institute a search (or, worse yet, replacement).
It was noisy in there, but we quite enjoyed watching the cross section of humanity enjoying the brilliant sunshine outside and the endless loop of bicycle races on several screens inside.
