Perfect Light.
The plan for today had been to visit Brownsea Island but the National Trust ferry had been cancelled due to high winds, there was another more substantial one running but we decided that the red squirrels would all be tucked up in bed, so plans changed.
On her birthday a year ago I had taken RF to Durdle Door and this was now where we headed.
On getting there the rain had stopped and clouds were breaking up so the long climb from Lulworth Cove warmed us up. At the top you get a view of the coast line all the way West to Weymouth and Portland Bill and, for us, the next band of rain.
The steps down to the beach were rather muddy and difficult to walk on but definitely worth it and once on the beach the rain stopped and the sun shone brilliantly.
The sea was quite rough and we both got caught by one breaker coming in faster than we could run so boots were filled with fresh sea water, not ideal!
After a number of photos were taken and a lovely walk we returned to the car and drove to Moreton Village for lunch in the old school tea rooms. The food and location here is superb, we had a lovely roast Pork Belly served with everything you'd expect plus a gorgeous gravy.
Next stop was at Blashford Lakes, Ringwood to see if we could find the starling murmuration we went in search of the previous Sunday. We were there quite early and saw nothing but then they started arriving, a small flight to start with but others kept joining until a huge flock gave us an amazing display.
All in all it was a fantastic 2 days, over far too quickly but, I know, I'm a very lucky person to have shared it with such a lovely lady.
