We have a visiting researcher with us at work. Looking closely at two harps from our collections. The Lamont and the Queen Mary harp are significant pieces and attract attention from scholars and musicians, as they're really good early examples believed to be from the 15th century. This research project is analysing both of the harps forensically to understand their materials, construction, repairs, and how they've been used over the centuries. Every part of them is being documented and recorded through observation, scans, and photography, which will be a valuable resource once it's all written up and published. It was quite a privilege to see them so close up.
