Kelp kiln

Back to Berneray to continue a survey of a deserted village there.
This kelp kiln bears sad witness to the end of a way of life. A short lived boom ended in 1822 and suddenly poverty struck leading to lots of emigrations from the islands; some forcibly, some not.
