Over the moon!

I was delighted to find out today that I had one of my images (in extras) commended in "the Beauty of Plants" category in International Garden Photographer of the Year which was announced today. There were 19,000 entrants from more than 50 countries so I feel especially honoured to have got an award.

I had been puzzling over which side of a Calla Lily to photograph as each side is different and interesting in its own way. So I decided to see if I could arrange three flowers to show every angle and curve. There is a black cloth under the flowers and a little window light coming in. Then I used my trusty torch with coloured cellophane to highlight the edges of the blooms. 35 photos and 3 hours later this was my shot.
