Heart-warming session with the very good folks of Hutton, looking at growing faith. And whilst there we heard some excellent community stories like Daily Bread, an amazing community project helping to combat the isolation. The café is open to anyone who wants to get out of the house to have a cup of tea, something to eat and a chat. Food is donated by Marks & Spencer and this is available at the café “fairly priced”, which basically means, it’s whatever you can afford.

It’s a lifeline for people who need food, warmth and company. There’s also the added bonus of expert advice and the opportunity to learn something new. A representative from Peabody Trust comes along to chat to anyone who needs advice about finances, benefits, health and accommodation. It’s a great opportunity to talk to someone in a welcoming and safe environment. A team of volunteers share their skills teaching something new like crochet or sign language.

It started this as a way of bringing the community together after identifying that there are lots of people in the area who are struggling to afford enough food for themselves or their families, or just don’t leave the house unless they have a really good reason.
