Apologies . . .
. . . to all those waiting for the next instalment of the very exciting saga of my village. This is not it!
I have been out - left in the dark and returned in the dark. And no we haven't got street lights either. Well, another ever so slight exaggeration, I think we've got two.
So, here are some gothic-looking spires at the east end of Carlisle Cathedral. In the sunshine and against a lovely blue sky. Built of the local red sandstone, which is mostly weathered to black, but showing up here in some of its original glory.
Carlisle Cathedral is the smallest cathedral in England, after Oxford. Not everyone knows that! Attacked over the centuries from Vikings to Scots, it's a wonder any of it is still standing.
