Tranquility!

Sometimes what you see is not even close to reality. Lake Liddell, not far from where I live is the picture of tranquility. Although the picture is beautiful a d serine, the lake is quite polluted. The closest power station has been extracting and discharging the lakes water for over 40 years. Among the many pollutants is an amoeba called, ”naegleria fowleri” commonly referred to as the brain eating amoeba. The amoeba exists in almost all waterways of the world in a dormant phase. It becomes active once the water reaches 20 degrees. As we have just experienced the hottest year the world has experienced in history, this amoeba could be visiting a stream near you.
