Dominoes

I decided to take a walk in the local conservation area despite a drop in temperature. It was quite difficult going underfoot because of icy patches and crusty snow.

I came across this scene in a dip where a stream runs and many trees have fallen creating receding arches, echoing the trailing brambles in the foreground. The trees still standing on the right are leaning and look as if they will collapse like dominoes before too long.

The counterweight in the image is the single dominant upright tree in the left foreground. I wondered whether having this element there made the photo unbalanced, but in the end decided it created a needed tension. Not sure though?
