Cinque Torri to the right
The weather continues to be kind with clear blue skies and no wind and pleasant temperatures at 7000 feet. Plenty of snow which was in great condition for snowshoeing.
Today’s view, which is an entry for Wide Wednesday is of the iconic Cinque Torri, the Five Towers. In an area of superlatives, Cinque Torri is up there amongst the best in the Dolomites. The day was only slightly marred by the heavy snow preventing us from going through a narrow ravine between two of the towers meaning we had to go around the base of these unique structures.
It truly was spectacular, wide open expanses of snow surrounded by mountains of such beauty and exaggeration that makes you wonder if they’re real and not just the figment of another world.
Coffee at one Refugio, lunch at another all the time surrounded by the majesty of these exceptional mountains, rounded off with a gentle descent through silent woodlands deep in snow back to the cable car base station from where we started today’s walk.
A good day rounded off with a very pleasant evening with some wonderful people.
The extra is a classic view of the Five Towers.
