A very long day out...

...just got back an hour ago, 18:30pm, and I just want to sleep...

I was awake at 3am this morning, and I just felt like doing a bit of gel plate printing...but I forgot about the time and had to scoot out at 8 am...

I wanted to explain more about this set of gel prints, but don't know if I will stay awake long enough...

The first one, top left, is the 'mask', because I cut around the magazine image of the lady, because I didn't want the words of that same magazine article at the side of her image. Previously when I had done this, I had wasted the opportunity of that first print. I didn't think. So I used an earlier print for the background.

The second print on the top row was the first pull of the magazine print image from the gel plate. I used an earlier printed purple background to print the lady on.

The third print was me applying acrylic yellows on to the gel plate to pull a second print.

The next three prints on the bottom row were combinations of me spraying water on to the gel plate and pulling a third print from the same magazine image on the gel plate. The middle one on the bottom row as me applying some more acrylic yellow paint, and that produced a darker image of the lady than the previous one.

The last one on the bottom row was me simply spraying with a fine mister on the gel plate and pulling a fifth print, still from the initial black image on the gel plate. By this time, I couldn't tell if there was any more black of the image left on the gel plate, yet you can see a print of it here, even though it was a fainter print.

I actually did another two pulls, each time spraying the gel plate with a fine mist of water, which I have not included here. These prints will be used as the base for another different gel plate print.

But the point is, you can sometimes get far more pulls from the image on the gel plate than just one.

This set, was the most I have ever pulled from one image on the gel plate, and it was the spraying of fine water mist that helped achieve this.

This was an exceptional example. There are many times when I get barely one print of that gel plate image. The norm, for me, seems to be two or three prints if I am lucky. But then I hadn't realised I could pull more prints by the simple application of a fine spray mist of water on the gel plate instead of applying paint to pull further prints.

I hope you can understand what I am babbling on about.

I have cat Popeye trying to stop me using this iPad, he is annoyed I am not giving him 100% of my attention...so I had better post before he deletes this post...

Thank you for your comments and love...
Take care x

I will catch up with your comments and blogs and tags for this post when I have dealt with this cat that is mithering me...

Right...I have given that cat a second supper which he is devouring...when I have finished this post I will go and get him, he has been on his own all day and wants me...
And here is a photo in extras of cross Popeye wanting me to down my device...

I will have to go in the kitchen and see if he is still talking to me...
