The surgeons have arrived.
Forty years ago I planted two sycamore seedlings in the garden, far too near to the house. Big mistake!
Over the years they have grown most enthusiastically, they have produced millions of baby sycamores which Mrs T has enthusiastically hunted down and uprooted with great determination and they have become a favourite roost for the local starlings. Recently, however, they have shown signs of becoming dangerous and today the surgeons arrived. Our old friends will be wood chips by the end of the day and the starlings will be homeless.
In the main photograph one surgeon is high in the canopy and in the extra his assistant is performing some serious surgery on one felled trunk.
