Leeds Bridge

Took the riverside walk from the train station to Northern Ballet this morning as a change from walking through the commercial district.
Had to pass Leeds Bridge which is currently having a lot of maintenance carried out on it.
Some of the concrete reinforcements are being replaced before the bridge is cleaned and then repainted.
I rather liked the jets of steam shooting up from below the arch.
The original bridge on this site was built in the 14 Century to replace the ferry crossing the River Aire, from there sprung the city of Leeds.
The current iron bridge was constructed in 1870 .
The site has the claim to fame as being the place where some of the first moving picture film was shot when Louise Le Prince filmed moving traffic crossing the bridge in 1888.

After my class l met Elaine and we had a very nice long lunch and a catch up.

Now home, Mr P gave me a lift from the station as it’s pouring down at the moment but it does feel warmer.
