Drawing in the Propagation Hut
C invited me to draw with her nature journaling class at the UCSC Arboretum this morning. With all the unstable weather we didn't want to risk getting drenched, so she negotiated entry into the usually off-limits greenhouse. What a remarkable treat! Surrounded by experiments and cross pollinations, ten of us managed to carve out little spaces to sit and observe these exotic plants. Time passes very quickly when you're staring at how, exactly, a leaf attaches to a branch. I find my glasses aren't up to such close work, but taking them off leaves a bit of eye strain, so I end up blinking and squinting, but it was fun to be in that damp room, trying to get those lines right.
