Joseph and his coat of many colours! 

Catching the low sun the feathers on this beautiful starling shimmered with stunning iridescence from pinks to yellows through the spectrum to indigos and purples. Lovely to see in the garden.

Iridescence interestingly is derived partly from the Greek word 'iris' meaning rainbow and the Latin suffix '-escent' meaning, 'having a tendency towards'. Iris was the goddess in Greek mythology who personified the rainbow and acted as the messenger of the gods.
