Watching and waiting
4th February 2019:
This is a new area for pump installation for us about 100 km from the factory.
They are watching Peter and the new well construction team demonstrating to the men, how to set out, dig and build a well.
The area requires about 30 new wells and the team will return to assist in the finishing process and the pump installation when the process is complete.
For some unknown reason (unknown to me) except culture and tradition, the women are not allowed to dig wells, and if they were there would be no delays. A new pump, close to home saves women and girls, endless hours of slavery hauling huge buckets of water on their heads.
Men in Malawi don't do this work!!
The lorry is carrying the cement and the fittings which are set in concrete for the well cover. The pump is then installed into this fitting
