Got the tree. Opened the decoration box. Found 2 dead mice. Threw away all but the most sentimental of decorations.

Tomorrow another emergency shopping trip is needed or this will be the barest tree known to man. On the upside, I was getting a bit bored with the all silver and white theme anyway.
