The Edge of the Wold

Blizzard

The spire of St Edith's in Bishop Wilton as a blizzard closed in, while the early morning sun was still shining wanly through the falling snow. The grey sky looks like I have an even worse case of sensor spots than I actually have. For once I haven't had to clean them off the image, they are indistinguishable from snow flakes. This looks a bit like it's been put into sepia, except for the sun and the gold coloured cockerel on the spire tip.

This was on the morning walk with Gus, and much rarer, with Wifie. New birds for the year: we saw a red kite flying low over the village while the sky was still bright and blue; something I had no expectation of was a meadow pipit feeding on a mound of steaming manure; and later, when the roads were safer, we saw a red-legged partridge as we headed to Beverley to catch up with an old friend.

Then it was back in the evening for the main event of the day, Eduardo performing in Ben Beattie's After Midnight Band at the village hall. Great fun.
