Bridge St, Kirkwall

I spent much of the day travelling as the only way I could get to Orkney for my meetings tonight and tomorrow was by spending what turned out to be 3 hours at Sumburgh Airport in Shetland en route. That meant leaving home mid morning to catch a plane in Glasgow.

When we finally arrived at Kirkwall the paths at the airport were very slippy and we discovered that the taxi that had been coming to meet us had slid off the road. So we took the airport bus into town , driven by a very friendly bus driver who had only been on the island for two weeks but who still managed to take us to the front door of our hotel.

Later, walking back from dinner with the Council Leader and Chief Execultive, the weather had turned a little milder and these lights in Bridge St caught my eye.

My extra picture is what’s was behind me - the harbour.
