Skye - Day 3
We were up early again to go photograph the dawn, but it was chucking down with rain and although we drove to our planned destination the weather did not improve so we just went back to the hotel and had breakfast instead. Of course it stopped raining as soon as we sat down to breakfast! After breakfast we spent the morning doing a review of photos analysis session, where we all submitted a couple of photos and we discussed and critiqued them. Our workshop leader also went through editing an image from start to finish which was very useful.
By now it was midday so we set off again to go photograph the lovely old bridge at Sligachan, as shown here. We spent some time there but it was too icy to walk any great distance without the risk of slipping with all our camera equipment. We survived some more showers and then we moved on to our next chosen spot which was Talisker Bay. Unfortunately the road there was too icy and slippery so we could not risk going there. Although we are lucky seeing these sights in snowy conditions we have found we cannot always access our chosen venue due to hazardous conditions. Just stepping out of the car in some places was like being on an ice rink as it has been so icy and slippery.
We stopped at various other places to take some photos and then went to check the condition at Fairy Pools. There are two streams that need to be crossed and if they are icy we cannot access the pools. We spoke to other walkers and they said conditions were not too bad, but as by now it was the end of the day we are planning to go there tomorrow. I just hope no-one slips and falls in the stream with all their equipment!
If you would like to see some more photos from today you can see them here.
Thank you for the concern about my brother - today for the first time in a couple of weeks he has felt much improved but the doctor is not discharging him from hospital until he is better. He gets back blood tests tomorrow so hopefully we may have a better indication of what the problem is - the doctors have considered salmonella, hepatitis, malaria, tick bite fever and a couple of other aggressive African diseases.
Thank you for continuing to look at my journal despite my lack of commenting on journals - I will catch up when I am home later this week.
