The tallest in the world

A brilliant day enjoying some of Dubai's highlights. We started at The Dubai Mall which is the largest shopping centre in the world and attracted 54 million visitors last year. It has over 1000 shops and is just huge! I had to look at the map a number of times as it was easy to get lost!

Our next stop was the Dubai Aquarium and Under Water Zoo. It is another World Record holder for the 'World's Largest Acrylic Panel'. I've been to a lot of aquariums but really didn't like this one. I think I was expecting the tanks to all be huge and all the animals and fish to look really well looked after but they didn't. I ended up just wanting to leave and felt sad to have given money to the attraction.

We have been looking at the Burj Khalifa from a distance ever since we arrived in Dubai as you can clearly see it from everywhere. I've been fascinated by it but it has always looked so tall and skinny without a full presence. I think its only when you get close to it that it comes in to its own. We stood at the base with our heads tilted back and trying to take it all in. It is just stunning and so iconic that you just want to stare at it until your neck starts to hurt. It has so many World Records and the fact and figures on the website are just amazing. I wonder how long it will stay the tallest building in the world?

As day turned to night we stood and watched the Dubai Fountain show. I've never seen anything like it and was totally mesmerised by the choreographed water jets. We ended up watching it three times over the next couple of hours with each show set to different music. It has been a brilliant day with Matt followed by a nice dinner at the hotel.
