It is what is inside that counts

The library in Pristina has been called the ugliest building in the world. It is definitely a case study in brutalism. I do not know what statement the architect was trying to make, but s/he made a statement. That said, inside it has a stunning floor. I was sweet to the two gentlemen talking and then one showed me a room used for presentations and the two of us who had never seen it before gasped at the incredible walls.

For your planned visit, Pristina is small, which is great, because you can walk anywhere and find your way around, but there isn’t really much to see or do. I did it all, and I had plenty of time to work afterwards.

I visited the outside of a mosque. I saw a gallery by women artists. I reveled in the ugliest building on the planet. I went to Bill Clinton’s statue and the Hillary store right next to it. Bill’s statue has really large hands. I went to a museum that was once a traditional house. I got another week of cell phone internet because they are sold in week increments and I got cash so I can hire a driver to take me to another place tomorrow. I went inside what I think is the Mother Theresa church. I walked on glass tiles. I interacted with about 6 homeless dogs who all found me fascinating and two jumped on me hoping I had something. I was not frightened at all but it is probably best that I didn’t have something because if they jump on someone again they might scare someone and something bad might happen. I don’t think urban grunge will ever be my style but it was what I had so I took plenty of urban grunge pictures.
