Half Dome From a Little Further Back

We drove up to the snow here in Yosemite, and spent a couple hours skiing (me) and snowshoeing (him). The years have taken their toll on my style, but I had a fine time nonetheless. Didn’t get very far out on the Glacier Point trail, but enjoyed a sunny day and great air. It’s pretty much spring conditions—old melting snow; a big storm is predicted for the weekend, maybe bringing a couple feet of snow, but we’ll be gone by then. We were stunned by all the damage from the recent fires—acres of blackened or downed trees visible from the road. Folks are rightly worried about the effects of heavy rain and snow on such raw areas.

The panorama above is from a viewpoint on Highway 41. I didnt really mean to put Half Dome smack in the middle of the composition, but there it is.
