Eiffel - bis

We had a lovely dinner tonight with our friends K & A and their daughters. They are also Canadian academics here on research leave and have rented the apartment that we lived in back in 2011-2012. Not only that, but their two daughters are the same ages as ours were when we lived there on our last sabbatical. Their daughters are very smart girls and it was a real pleasure to hear all about their experiences of going to school here, the differences they notice between France & Canada, etc. It felt like we were in a bit of a time warp... but in a good way. 

I find I can hold on to time and memories much better when I'm away travelling, in places that are a break from the routine. I'm missing our daughters tonight, but they are both doing very well at their two Universities, studying things they enjoy. It's the best case scenario that we could have envisioned for them back when we were living on Avenue de Versailles in 2012 :)
