A Very Obliging Heron

A very cold day with occasional flakes of snow but nice bright sunny intervals.  Heavy snow is forecast for tonight/tomorrow.  I took one of my regular walks around the village and was just thinking that there was not much about today when I saw just the head of this heron above the bank of the brook.  I approached cautiously and to my surprise it did not fly off and even walked into a patch of sunlight on the opposite bank.
