Meeting people
Today we are in Narlai a village of 6500 people. They work from their homes providing all kinds of services. This lady and her daughter make yoghurt /milk curd which is all made manually. We met clothes makers, shoemakers, musicians , farmer, shopkeeper, holy men....( yes , we were busy). See extras farmer and clothes maker
We were shown around by a shepherd caste member ( clue red turban!) who also works at the Heritage hotel we are staying at. But he lives and was born in this village. See Extra.
We are cynical and you initially feel this is being staged especially for us. But it was the real thing. People living lives so different to ours and appearing to be content and happy.... in spite of the always evident mobile ‘phones!!
This is the first time I’ve felt that ‘I could live here’ feeling. But I won’t!
