Friday at last!
Tim was feeling better today so we ventured out to the Filmhouse to see Mary, Queen of Scots. I thoroughly enjoyed it, much more so than The Favourite. This is probably because I know the historical detail so much more with The Favourite and didn't like the portrayal of my dear Queen Anne. Mary, on the other hand, I know far less and whilst the script took some artistic license, certain things they got spot on - especially about the fragility of a queen holding power in her own right - so very different from the reign of the current Elizabeth. Most of us have known no other monarch and it seems natural that she is monarch and Philip her consort, rather than her king.
In any case, the actor who played John Knox (I'll let you find out for yourself) stole every scene he was in and rightly, too - moodily portrayed and word perfect - a delight to this old historian!
