Museum Monday...David
It was still cold this morning (50F) , so Lisa stayed home while I made a quick run to the Ringling Museum. It is about 10 miles away from our condo.
I walked the grounds and went into the courtyard, but didn't go into the art museum.
The huge nude bronze David greets you as you enter the courtyard. I got him from the front and the back, and from far away.
Michelangelo created the original statue in 1501-1504, and his creation was a shade over 17 feet. Mr. Ringling's statue was made at the Chiurazzi Foundry in Italy in the early 1900's, and is a little smaller at 16.5 feet. He bought it to be a showcase for a hotel project, but the project fell through, so it ended up in the courtyard.
