...until today behind a false chimney breast. The stone and brickwork need sorting out a lot bit, but eventually it will hopefully be a nice fireplace. And it’s just big enough to have a small wood burner, something that MrM is keen to install, but I’m rather less enthusiastic - carrying wood up the stairs to a first-floor flat could be a real chore.
Anyway, while MrM was exposing stone and dismantling the window seat, among other things Jake was busy stripping wood chip wallpaper, an arduous task given the thickness of the gloss paint on top of it. And the previous occupants had evidently stuck it on the walls with something stronger than conventional wallpaper paste! When I’d finished some book work, I assisted Jake late in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, A walked along the coast around Alnmouth taking photos. MrM drove us down to Alnwick to meet him and we all had a meal at Carlo’s before calling in to the DIY store.
