Cave Spider under cover

This magnificent beast was under a concrete cover over a stopcock.  Its home was completely dark and somewhat damp, but the spider seemed quite happy!  After wandering over my hand for a few moments it dropped back into its hole on a thin line of web.

Size - tip of front leg to tip of back leg = 40mm.  Lovely!
